Abstract: A generally defined decision-making problem is the problem of choosing a course of action from several possibilities, or making a decision among several possible choices based on available observations. In passive sonar detection, a decision is made regarding the presence or absence of a target based on passively listening for the sound made by the target via underwater acoustic sensors. In this talk, a wavelet FB based passive sonar detection structure is addressed. The threshold holding strategy involved in this structure is a classic decision making problem. Both centralised and distributed thresholding/detections are analysed. Optimal detection rule is also derived.
